state of boston music!?

Hey guys!
I'm an aspiring journalist and have decided to take on the state of Boston music for school. I was wondering if any of you guys on here could point in the right direction of who I could speak to? You know, like what local bands are really big? I'm not from Boston so any tips would be cool. Anyway thanks you guys.

Several Questions

Any of you hit up the Pietasters/Westbound Train/Have Nots show at the Middle East on Saturday night? I had a total blast!

Also, does anyone know of any fun dancehall/ska/rocksteady nights going on around the city?

And, any interesting ska or related shows happening in the next couple months in Boston?

Three things

So who else was at the Pilfers show? Totally awesome, right?

Is anyone making the trek out to Northampton for Big D/Catch 22 tonight?

And does anyone know if the second Streetlight Manifesto show is sold out?

I know a CT event is a bit far south, but hear me out on this one!

Webster Theater Underground, Hartford CT

Doors at 9pm

18+ seven bucks
21+ five bucks

Here's your chance to skank to the upbeats of ska's brilliant past and clandestine present in a dancehall setting courtesy of DJ Jefftingley! Hope to see all of you there!

Short notice, I know, but I figured it's a legitimate dancehall theme, and who can remember the last time you skanked in a club to music ranging from The Skatalites to West Bound Train to The Blue Meanies?

Pick it up Rudeboys and Rudegirls!

I'm really glad to have found this community, even if it hasn't been updated in a while.

Anyone hit up the Streetlight Manifesto show on Tuesday?
